EDP installed capacity reached 22.4GW in Mar-13. Total generation output advanced by 11% in 1Q13, driven by new capacity additions and strong wind and hydro resources in Iberia. Hydro and wind output accounted for 75% of 1Q13 output.  Capacity additions over the last 12 months were focused on hydro in Portugal (+257MW backed by completion of repowering Alqueva II), by wind (+515MW) and new capacity in Brazil (+188MW). Our Setúbal fueloil plant (946MW) was shutdown in 1Q13. Energy distributed by EDP decreased 5% YoY in 1Q13, due to weak demand, particularly for gas.

EDP – Energias do Brasil ("EDP Brasil"), EDP Group's subsidiary for the Brazilian electricity market, listed in São Paulo Stock Exchange and 51.0% owned by EDP, announced today that the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) granted, the Porto de Pecém I thermal plant (a 50%/50% partnership between EDP Brasil and MPX Energia, S.A.), the permission to begin the commercial operation of the second group, with 360 MW of installed capacity.

EDP Serviço Universal, S.A., the last resort supplier of the Portuguese electric system, 100% owned by EDP Group, agreed today the sale of a portion of EUR 150 million, and the respective interests, of the 2012 tariff deficit.

EDP has mandated StormHarbour to act as sole arranger and lead manager for the structuring of a securitization transaction of credit rights held by EDP Serviço Universal, S.A. in relation with the deferment, for the period of 5 years, of the recovery of the over costs of 2012 (including the adjustments for 2010 and 2011) with the activity of acquisition of electricity to special regime generators.

Capacity additions over the last 12 months were focused on hydro in Portugal (+257MW backed by completion of repowering Alqueva II), by wind (+589MW) and new capacity in Brazil (+365MW). Our Setúbal fueloil plant (946MW) was shut down following the PPA-end in Dec-12. Energy distributed by EDP decreased 3% YoY in 1H13, due to weak demand, particularly for gas.

EDP Serviço Universal, S.A., the last resort supplier for the Portuguese electricity system, a company wholly owned by the EDP Group, has entered into an agreement for the assignment, by means of a true sale without recourse to Tagus – Sociedade de Titularização de Créditos, S.A.,of a portion of the 2012 Tariff Deficit, and respective interest, for an amount of EUR 450 million.

The General Shareholders Meeting, held on May 6th, 2013, approved the proposal of the Executive Board of Directors for the allocation of profits regarding the financial year ended December 31st, 2012, which provides for the payment of a gross dividend of 0.185 euros per share.The dividends will be available for payment starting on May 23th, 2013.

Fitch Ratings ("Fitch") has placed the ratings of several utilities with significant exposure to Spain on Rating Watch Negative ("RWN"), among which the "BBB-" rating of EDP, its finance subsidiary EDP Finance BV and its Spanish subsidiary, Hidroelectrica del Cantabrico.
