Through the Energia do Bairro project, EDP will provide solar panel systems to homes in the municipality of Leiria to help them save on their energy bills.
A solar panel is a device that converts energy from sunlight into electricity. This electricity can be used to provide power to a home, helping reduce its electricity bill.
We estimate that installing three solar panels could result in savings of up to €250 per year.
No, we won’t be making any changes to your current meter.
In the first phase of the project’s implementation in the municipality of Leiria, 3 solar panels are available for each of the 39 homes in the Bairro da Cova das Faias community. In a later phase, 3 solar panels per home will be available to families selected by our local partners.
Participants who register their home will be subject to a technical visit to confirm whether the installation of a solar panel is possible.
No, the solar panel can only be used for a single household.
Registration for community residents will take place in person at Gira Ó Bairro on the 14th of August. Our team will be available to assist you throughout the registration process.
When you register, you must bring the following documents with you:
- A recent utility bill for your home (electricity or gas)
- A valid form of identification, such as a Citizen Card
Yes, only one registration per household is allowed—that is, only one member from each home can register.
Once the necessary conditions for installing the solar panels have been confirmed and you have registered, the EDP team will schedule a visit to your home to install the panels.
No, this project does not require any costs or obligations from the selected participants.
The solar panel has a total power of 800 Wp and comes with a 10-year warranty.
No, it is completely safe.
The installation will be handled by EDP.
Generally, installation conditions are met, but there are some reasons that may make installation unfeasible, including: electrical grid without grounding protection; types of roof tiles that do not allow proper and secure fixing of the structures (e.g., metal sheets); and poor roof conditions (e.g., brittle tiles).
