Solidarity Mobility

Solidarity Mobility, promoted by the EDP Foundations in Portugal and Spain, is a program aimed at the Social and Solidarity sector reaffirming EDP’s commitment to enable energy transition that leaves no one behind.
The initiative supports nonprofit and community-based organizations in adopting electric mobility solutions that are fair, informed, and environmentally responsible. It promotes a reduction of the carbon footprint while helping to lower energy consumption costs.
Electric mobility stands as a strategic priority and a concrete response to our sustainability goals and the urgent need to tackle climate change. By replacing traditional vehicles with electric alternatives, organizations can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions maximize the use of electricity generated from renewable sources.
Previous edition
In its first edition in Portugal in 2022, the EDP Foundation’s program received over 200 applications. From those, a select group of organizations was chosen for their impactful work in reducing the carbon footprint within the sector.
The jury prioritized proposals with strong social impact, including services such as home care for the elderly, healthcare access, social projects for at-risk youth, school meal deliveries, and care for people with special needs. Through sustainable mobility, these organizations are enhancing the quality and reach of essential community services.
19 electric vehicles were deployed across across 9 municipalities: Porto, Braga, Viseu, Castelo Branco, Aveiro, Leiria, Lisbon, and Santarém, driving real change where it matters most.
