Skills Professionals is a technical training program sponsored by EDP that aims to equip professionals to meet the growing needs of the energy transition. Targeted at people living in regions where EDP is developing renewable energy projects, the program promotes the development of local technical skills, contributing to the creation of opportunities, the economic development of communities, and the cultivation of talent in those regions.
Through partnerships with organizations in the energy and technical training sectors, Skills Professionals combines specialized training with practical experience in real-world work settings, facilitating integration into the job market and strengthening the connection between people, regions, and energy projects.
Energy Professionals Solar - 1st Edition
Energy Professionals Solar is the first edition of the program in the solar photovoltaic sector, focused on training technicians in the operation and maintenance of solar power plants. This initiative addresses the growing demand for technical skills in this sector and reinforces the commitment to a just and inclusive energy transition.
The program is developed in partnership with APREN and CTE, with the training component provided by the Training Center for the Energy Transition.
Requirements:
- Aged 18 to 45
- Completed compulsory education
- Residence in municipalities covered by EDP’s solar projects
- Willingness to travel
Location and Format:
- Training Center for the Energy Transition, in Portalegre
- In-person, full-time training
- 235 hours of training (theoretical and practical)
- On-the-job training (OJT) with an industry partner (to be determined)

End date: December 31 (tentative)

Nisa, Portalegre, Mação, Proença-a-Nova and Vila Velha de Ródão
Energy Professionals Wind- 2nd Edition
The second edition of Energy Prof Wind PT continues the work begun to train technicians specialized in the operation and maintenance of wind farms. The program aims to enhance employability in regions with wind energy assets, contributing to local economic revitalization and the empowerment of communities.
Developed in partnership with APREN, CTE, CEDROS, and Vestas, the course combines technical training with hands-on experience in a real-world operational setting.
Requirements:
- Minimum age of 18
- Completion of compulsory education
- Residence in the municipalities covered by the projects
Location and Format:
- Hands-on training at the Cedros Operations and Maintenance Center in Setúbal
- 152.5 hours of training (online + in-person)
- Online theoretical training
- In-person hands-on training
- GWO certification (working at heights and first aid)
- On-the-job training with support from Vestas
