Showcasing Event

On 23 June 2026, the EDGE Transition programme was introduced to leading companies driving the energy transition. To better illustrate what the EDGE Transition will be, the event also featured a live presentation of Free Electrons, a program with a similar approach: global reach, multiple sponsors from the energy sector, on-site sessions, and a strong focus on fostering partnerships between sponsors and applicants.

The event began at MAAT with a welcome session led by Martim Salgado, Global Social and Foundations Executive Director at EDP, during which the agenda and logistics for the day were presented. This was followed by a visit to the Free Electrons bootcamp, a global and multi-sponsored accelerator for tech start-ups in the energy sector, providing participants with an opportunity to better understand what the EDGE Transition will be.

In the afternoon, participants gathered at EDP headquarters for the panel discussion "Social Innovation for the Energy Transition", co-hosted with Impact Europe. The session brought together leading experts in Energy Transition and Social Innovation, including António Miguel - Managing Partner @Maze Impact and Board Member @Impact Europe, Miguel Alves Martins - Assistant Dean @Nova SBE, André Anacleto - Partner @McKinsey & Company and Luís Rebelo - Policy Manager @Cleantech Group, to explore how social innovation is not only a moral imperative but also a strategic opportunity for corporates shaping the future of energy.

The program also included a session for exchanging best practices and insights among participants, during which each company presented its Social Impact Strategy and flagship initiatives to its peers, encouraging the sharing of corporate social impact practices across the energy sector and adjacent industries.

The event concluded with a detailed presentation of the EDGE Transition program, including examples of successful initiatives, a discussion of next steps and a Q&A session.
