Applications are now open worldwide until February 15 for the third and final module of the 9th edition of Energy Starter, EDP’s open innovation program focused on business development for startups aiming to rapidly scale their solutions. Structured in three phases, the program seeks to address various challenges in the energy sector, aligned with strategic areas for EDP.

In this module, now focused on client-oriented solutions, EDP is looking for projects or products that support consumers on their path toward decarbonization and enable fast implementation and efficient operation of decentralized generation.

After applying, startups go through an online pitch and, if selected, participate in a bootcamp on May 27 and 28 to accelerate pilot projects and business opportunities with EDP. These projects will be fully funded by EDP and will involve access to operational assets, along with continuous support to ensure that the solutions are tailored to the needs of the energy sector. The goal is to accelerate these innovative solutions toward commercial viability, paving the way for long-term partnerships that contribute to driving the energy transition.

Startups interested in the third module of Energy Starter can apply through the program’s website. With commercial operations across four continents, EDP has more than three million residential and business customers. The company is a leader in electricity supply in Portugal, in decentralized solar solutions for businesses in Europe, and one of the top global companies in long-term renewable energy contracts.
