LABELEC at CIGRE 2026

CIGRE (Conseil International des Grands Réseaux Électriques – International Council on Transport Electric Systems) is a prominent international association, established in 1921, dedicated to the technical and scientific development of electrical power systems. It has members in over 90 countries and is globally recognized within the energy sector.

The CIGRE SESSION 2026 event held in Paris, France, combines technical discussions with an international exhibition, running alongside meetings of various Study Committees and Working Groups.

LABELEC currently holds the Portuguese representation for 3 of the 16 Study Committees, serving as the link between the National Committee and the corresponding international Study Committee:

  • Pedro Nunes: B1, Insulated Cables;
  • Andreia Leiria: C4, System Technical Performance;
  • Mônica Fialho: D1, Materials and Emerging Test Techniques.

Historically, LABELEC has maintained an active and highly regarded presence within CIGRE, contributing through technical participation, the presentation of research papers, and involvement in Study Committees, all of which reinforce the company’s standing as a benchmark entity both nationally and internationally.

At the CIGRE SESSION 2026, LABELEC presented three technical papers:

"Ageing Kinetics of Insulating Paper Immersed in a Near Carbon Neutral Re-Refined Oil" - Authors: Anabela Peixoto and Mónica Fialho;

"Automating Electrical Grid Asset Inspections: Improving Insulators Health Assessment with Region-Level Annotations" - Author: Ricardo Santos;

"Impact of Increased Renewable Integration on Power Swing Detection: A Case Study from the Portuguese DSO" – Authors: Luís Nunes and Andreia Leiria.

LABELEC also participated in the CIGRE SESSION 2026 as an exhibitor at a trade fair that brings together senior executives, engineers, and experts from the global energy industry.

Highlights of this 52nd edition:

  • Over 330 exhibitors;
  • More than 13,000 visitors;
  • 99 countries represented.

And LABELEC will continue its work both within the Study Committees and the Working Groups... until the next CIGRE SESSION in 2028!
