EDP secures tariff for wind farm in Germany
EDP, a global leader in renewable energy development, has been awarded a contract for its Osteria onshore wind project in Germany through the country's Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) auction scheme. The award, granted by the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur), covers the full 21 MW of the project’s installed capacity and will provide a stable support framework for a period of 20 years.
Located in Lower-Saxony, the project will consist of three high-efficiency wind turbines and is expected to generate close to 58 GWh of renewable electricity annually. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027, with operations expected to start in 2028.
This outcome represents an important milestone in the project's development and confirms its competitiveness within the German renewable energy market, one of EDP's key growth markets in Europe. As the country continues to expand renewable energy generation to strengthen energy security, EDP is advancing a diversified portfolio of wind, solar and storage projects designed to support a stronger energy system.
Alongside its growing wind portfolio, EDP continues to strengthen its multi-technology presence in Germany. With more than 150 MWp of operating solar assets, the company is developing a pipeline of more than 4 GW of solar, onshore wind and battery energy storage systems (BESS), reinforcing its long-term commitment to one of Europe's most dynamic renewable energy markets.
