EDP completes disposal of the Mascarenhas HPP (“Energest”)
Lisbon, December 07th, 2022: Following the announcement to the market released on August 30th 2022, EDP – Energias de Portugal, S.A. (“EDP”), through its 57.55%[1] owned subsidiary EDP - Energias do Brasil S.A., informs that it has concluded today the total disposal of Energest S.A., the holder of Mascarenhas Hydro Power Plant to VH GSEO UK Holdings Limited, a subsidiary of Victory Hill Global Sustainable Energy Opportunities.
The transaction was concluded in line with the terms and conditions previously disclosed, in the total amount of R$ 1,225 million, having received, on this date, R$ 800 million adjusted by prepaid dividends and cash adjustments, resulting in a net amount of R$ 708 million (€ 129 million, considering an exchange rate of at 5.47 EUR/BRL).
The Mascarenhas HPP has a 198MW installed capacity and lies in the State of Espírito Santo, Brazil.
This transaction reduces the weight of conventional generation and namely hydro exposure in Brazil, in line with the 2021-2025 business plan targets presented to the market in February 2021.
