EDP launches academic excellence award in the energy sector
EDP Labelec Merit Award will distinguish the best thesis on topics such as renewables, decarbonization and technological innovation, in all markets where the group is present. Applications start today and end on March 31st.
EDP has just launched an award to distinguish academic excellence in the field of energy, aimed at university students from all markets in which the group operates and who have developed master's or doctoral thesis in this area. The EDP Labelec Merit Award will thus reward research in the sector and, at the same time, help to find new approaches that can be applied to business reality. The applications start today and run until March 31.
In this first edition, the award promoted jointly by EDP Labelec and EDP New, two areas of the group focused on developing innovation projects in the energy sector, will reward the winner with 15.000 euros, if it is of a master's thesis, or 20.000 euros, in the case of a doctoral thesis. The thesis applied should explore, in the context of the energy area, topics as generation and integration of renewable energies and decarbonization, smart grids and distribution, new clean energy solutions and innovative technologies or digital solutions.
The award process will involve the evaluation and selection of the 20 best candidates by a Technical Commission of the EDP Labelec and EDP New. Subsequently, from this universe the five best thesis will be chosen by an EDP Evaluation Committee. And, finally, a jury composed by recognized personalities external to the company will choose the winning master's or doctoral thesis. Applications may be submitted, from today, on the EDP Labelec website, where all the detailed information about the EDP Labelec Merit Award can also be found.
