For eight consecutive years, an EDP power plant has ranked at the top of ANEEL’s list.

The Peixe Angical and Lajeado hydroelectric power plants, both majority-owned by EDP and located in Tocantins, were recognized by ANEEL (the National Electric Energy Agency) as the best in Brazil. The results were released following an inspection campaign conducted by the agency in 2025, which evaluated approximately 150 hydroelectric power plants in operation across the country.

The Peixe Angical hydroelectric plant maintained top performance in the evaluation, achieving a score of 100 in all criteria analyzed: Environment, Operations Management, Maintenance Management, Operations and Maintenance, Safety, and Performance Indicators. The Lajeado HPP, meanwhile, received the highest score in five of the six categories evaluated and recorded an overall score of 99.95, securing second place in the national ranking. The São Manoel HPP, located on the Teles Pires River in Mato Grosso and Pará, improved by 10 positions and now ranks 94th.

For the past eight years, since 2018, an EDP plant has held the top spot in ANEEL’s ranking. In the Dardo survey (Declaration of Regulatory Self-Assessment and Operational Performance), the regulator verifies whether the service provided by the hydroelectric plants aligns with the operational performance standards set by the agency.

“We are proud to have two of the best hydroelectric plants in the country, assets that represent the strength of our track record and EDP’s commitment to a more sustainable future. Today, our plants play an essential role in the energy transition, contributing to the preservation of clean and renewable sources, not only because of the significant volume of low-carbon energy they generate, but also because they offer operational flexibility to the system, which is essential to complement other renewable sources and reinforce the security and reliability of the Brazilian power grid,” says Luis Barros, Executive Director of Renewable Assets at EDP in South America.

This achievement takes on even greater significance in a year that is particularly symbolic for the company. In 2026, EDP will celebrate 50 years since its global founding and 30 years of operations in Brazil—milestones that reflect a history built on innovation, sustainable growth, and a positive impact on society. These are decades of dedication, transformation, and leadership in the energy transition—a journey that fills us with pride and reinforces the sense of belonging among everyone who contributes daily to the company’s success.
