Applications are open for the 7th edition of Free Electrons, ready to receive the most innovative and promising proposals from startups in the energy sector. Projects can apply until January 28.

Financing of one million euros, under the fourth edition of Access to Energy Fund, reinforces EDP's social impact strategy in emerging economies and its focus on ensuring a fair energy transition. The projects now selected will benefit close to one million people in four African countries.

Three EDP projects in Aboño (Asturias), Los Barrios (Cádiz) and IAM Caecius (Teruel) will receive public funding as they are considered strategic projects by European Comission.

Around £660m to be invested through entry into the UK onshore market via a portfolio of 544 MW of onshore wind and solar energy. This agreement focuses on the assessment of investment opportunities for the two companies in renewable hydrogen projects across Portugal and Spain. Sines, Asturias and the Basque Country are the first planned locations.

The decommissioning of the deactivated thermoelectric plant is set to enter its final stage, using an innovative system to demolish three 100-meter-high structures. The process will take about two months.
