With more than 25 years of experience in the energy sector, Miguel is the CEO of both EDP and EDP Renewables since January 2021, after previously serving as the Group’s CFO since 2018. He has also held several senior leadership roles within the organisation, including CEO of EDP Spain, CEO of EDP Client Solutions, and was an Executive Board member of EDP Networks Portugal.
Throughout his career at EDP, Miguel has led major strategic transactions that have shaped the company’s growth and international footprint. These include the IPOs of EDP Energias do Brasil and EDP Renewables, the acquisition of Horizon Wind Energy in the United States, Viesgo in Spain and Sunseap in Singapore.
He started his career in the City in Investment Banking. Miguel holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management and graduated from the University of Strathclyde (Scotland, UK) with an M.Eng with Distinction in Mechanical Engineering.
