Miguel Fonseca leads Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions at EDP, with responsibility for the Group's corporate strategy and business plan, capital allocation, M&A, asset rotation and equity capital markets. He plays a central role in challenging the Group's major investment decisions and in connecting strategy to value creation, the balance sheet and EDP's equity story with investors and rating agencies, in support of the Group's growth and energy-transition strategy.
Miguel joined EDP in 2020 as Executive Board Member of EDP Client Solutions, where he built and scaled the Group's European distributed-solar business, from 50 to 500 MWp, and led its B2B energy activities across Europe including Iberia. He then served as CEO of EDP Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore, refocusing the region into a five-market platform (Singapore, Australia, Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam) and turning it into a self-funding, cash-generative business with a clean safety record and the strongest engagement scores in the Group.
Before EDP, Miguel spent nearly two decades at McKinsey & Company, the last nine years as a Partner, advising organisations across the energy, telecommunications, media and financial-services sectors, with a focus on strategy and large-scale business transformation.
Miguel holds an MSc in Business and Economics from Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics and an MBA from INSEAD, where he graduated with Dean's List distinction.
