EDGE Transition
EDGE Transition is a global social innovation program designed to support social entrepreneurs who are driving a fair, inclusive, and sustainable energy transition in underserved and emerging markets.
Launched by EDP and Schneider Electric, the program responds to a critical gap in the energy transition ecosystem: while social innovators play a key role in delivering local and inclusive energy solutions, many struggle to access the capital, partnerships, and technical support needed to grow scale.
EDGE Transition acts as a bridge - connecting early-stage, impact-driven solutions with global energy leaders, expertise, and resources - to ensure that the energy transition leaves no one behind.

Why it matters
The energy transition is one of the defining challenges of our time - but if it is not designed intentionally, it risks deepening existing inequalities.
As energy systems transform, communities that already face social and economic vulnerability are often the first to bear the costs and the last to benefit. Access, affordability, skills, and opportunities do not automatically follow technological progress.
Ensuring a fair and inclusive energy transition requires solutions that are grounded in local realities, respond to social needs, and are built with - not just for - the communities they serve.
EDGE Transition exists to help make that shift possible.
