EDP Renewables completes its largest single distributed generation solar project
Project is the largest solar distributed generation plant EDP group has installed so far in a single place and reinforces the target the company has for the Chinese energy transition.
EDPR has completed the construction of a 19Megawatts-peak (MWp) distributed generation (DG) solar energy project in China’s Anhui province,on the rooftop of a major consumer electronic manufacturing facility for self-consumption with a signed 20-year PPA. Construction started earlier this year and took less than 5months to COD since award.
This is the largest single DG project undertaken by EDP Group, part of a global portfolio of 28 GW. The system is structured with 35,000 solar panels and it will generate over 22 GWh of energy annually, equivalent to offsetting approximately 19,000 metric tonnes of carbon emissions*.
This project is part of EDPR APAC’s current 150MWp solar energy committed capacity in China, where the company has a strong ambition in both distributed and utility-scale projects, supporting the country’s goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2060.
EDPR, through the acquisition of Sunseap in 2022, has more than 730 MW in solar capacity in APAC markets, accounting now for 5% of the global renewable portfolio of the company.
