EDP and unions reach agreement on new Collective Labour Agreement
EDP and the majority of trade union organisations have concluded negotiations on a new Collective Labour Agreement (CLA) in Portugal, which will come into effect on 1 January 2027.
The new CLA introduces changes across a number of areas, including a new, simpler and more transparent career development framework, designed to facilitate progression, particularly at the earlier stages of employees’ careers, while strengthening the recognition of merit and its link to pay progression. It also provides for enhanced compensation for special working arrangements, through higher payments for shift and overtime work, as well as a review of employee benefits.
The agreement follows several rounds of discussions over the past year and represents an important milestone for the EDP Group in Portugal, reflecting the parties’ commitment to social dialogue and to developing solutions that respond to the evolving needs of both the company and the workplace.
For EDP, the agreement supports the continued recognition and development of its people and the improvement of their working conditions, while balancing these objectives with the competitiveness, sustainability and transformation challenges currently shaping the energy sector and the broader business environment.
The agreement reached in Portugal follows the agreement signed in Spain in September on the IV Collective Labour Agreement for the EDP Group. Together, Portugal and Spain account for around 60% of EDP’s workforce, underlining the significance of these agreements for the continued evolution of the Group’s labour relations model.
