A stage for renowned pianists and for the new generation
The EDP Foundation, a founding member of the Casa da Música Foundation is, since 2008, the exclusive patron of EDP’s Foundation Piano Cycle, an annual initiative that brings to Portugal the greatest international pianists and young revelations. Since 2010, EDP’s patronage activity also ranges through World Music Day, celebrated on October 1st.
The Piano Cycle is made by great stars of today, emerging musicians, and young revelations of the international scene, with credits supported in the most famous prestigious international contests.
Recognized by specialized critics, with exclusive contracts with the most reputed record labels worldwide, the pianists who performed solo in the Suggia Room, provided a great variety in the repertoire, in recitals with equally appealing and thoughtful programs.
The Piano Cycle is an expected program in the Casa da Música’s agenda by an already faithful public. In the last years, it welcomed international pianists and renowned Portuguese pianists, like Pedro Burmester, Elisso Virsaladze, Nikolai Lugansky, Richard Goode, the virtuoso of the new generation such as Ingolf Wunder, and prodigies such as Alexandra Dovgan.
As a patron for this project, EDP stands for the appreciation of music and artists and ensures the continuity of this initiative, which also has a pedagogical vocation to train the new public.
