Plaza Porticada Cultural Association

EDP supports the Plaza Porticada Cultural Association, whose mission is to promote the cultural development of the Cantabria region.

For the cultural development of Cantabria

EDP is one of the "protecting partners" of the Plaza Porticada Cultural Association, created in 1997, which aims to contribute to the cultural development of Cantabria through a series of activities that include: 

1. Cooperation in the defence, promotion and dissemination of the culture proper to the region of Cantabria;
2. Encouraging the conservation of the architectural heritage of the region;
3. Cultural events that disseminate local knowledge and values and that bring in external contributions; 
4. The Plaza Porticada Honor Award;
5. A biennial meeting, the Culture and Nature Forum, which has been consolidated as the ideal space for the study of sustainable development.

Plaza Porticada Honor Award

The Association has instituted this award with the objective of recognizing people or entities that distinguish themselves:

• For their activity of excellence in any field of artistic, cultural and social creation that contributes to the conservation and promotion of culture, as well as to the development and economic and social progress of the regional, national or international community;
• In the protection, conservation or promotion of the Cultural and Natural Heritage of Cantabria;
• For initiatives in favor of Cultural or Natural Heritage that represent an economic and social development for a particular locality or community area; 
• For the good management of Cultural and Natural Heritage when faced with new needs of an economic or social nature;
• For promoting, researching and fostering Cantabria's relations with Ibero-American entities, whether they be historical, social, economic or cultural.
