EDP supports the Santander International Festival (FIS), helping to ensure that every year there is a high-quality program and that classical music can reach new audiences.
Classical music accessible to all
Assuming its strong commitment to culture, EDP has for several years been one of the main sponsors of the Festival Internacional de Santander (FIS) (Santander International Festival ), one of Cantabria's most important cultural events, helping to contribute to its continuity, as well as to the cultural development of the region itself.
This support has helped to create a program with quality proposals and internationally renowned artists, to spread classical music and attract new audiences, facilitating access to culture for all citizens.
Santander, home of the Festival, is located in a unique natural and scenic environment, being a city naturally dedicated to the culture that, during the summer, transforms itself into one of the most important cultural centers in Spain.
72nd edition (August 2023)
The Santander International Festival presents, in 2023, a program that revitalizes its classical roots, open to all audiences. The inauguration of the event, which takes place on August 5, will feature Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, conducted by the Rotterdams Philharmonisch and the Orfeón Donostiarra, under the direction of Lahav Shani, followed by a program composed of nearly fifty music and dance performances, diversified in approach, but always marked by a high artistic demand.
The finale takes place on August 31, with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. Under the baton of its titular conductor, Omer Meir Wellber, and together with the Andra Mari Choir, they will present Haydn's "Nelson" Mass, together with Beethoven's First Symphony, thus culminating an edition in which the composer from Bonn will have an outstanding presence.
