Installed capacity of 100-megawatts

Project overview

Duff Solar is located in Dubois County, west of the town of Huntingburg. The solar site would complement the area’s agriculture and bring millions of dollars of capital investment to Dubois County.

Economic benefits

Duff Solar Park yields significantly in the form of payments to landowners, local spending, and annual community investment. Duff Solar Park is also compatible with other land uses and provides a stable form of income to local landowners.
$150+ million

Capital investment

$8 million

Would be paid to local governments

$30+ million

Solar as a neighbor

Solar projects are essentially silent neighbors designed to capture light while not producing glare.

Solar panel technology

Solar panels contain no liquids or materials that would pose a risk to the environment or human health.
Construction updates

Duff Solar aims to reach commercial operations by July 2026.

EDP Renewables North America will be working with local and domestic contractors and subcontractors to bring Duff Solar online, including:

  • White Construction, Inc
  • NEI Electrical Power Engineering, Inc
  • William Charles Electric
  • RRC Power & Energy, LLC
  • SGC Engineering LLC
  • Terabase Energy

As of March 2026, Duff Solar has the following construction activities occurring onsite:

  • Driving & Drilling Piles
    • Steel beams are spaced out and inserted into the ground using pile drivers to serve as the foundation for the solar modules. In some cases, pre-drilling may be required.
  • Installing Tables and Panels
    • Duff Solar will comprise over 250,000 photovoltaic (PV) panels mounted on tables and affixed to the foundation to form a solar array.
  • Installing Inverters and Transformers

The electricity generated by the PV panels is in the form of direct current (DC). Inverters are installed to convert the DC output of the PV cells into alternating current (AC) suitable for supplying the electrical grid. The AC power then goes through a transformer to increase the voltage before connecting to the electrical grid.

Duff Solar's future construction activities will consist of:

  • Interconnection
    • The power then passes from the project substation, where the voltage is increased, to a utility-owned substation. From the utility’s substation, the renewable electricity will be sent to homes, businesses, and utilities.
  • Fully Operational
    • Once the solar project is complete, it will be monitored continuously to ensure all system components are operating properly. Vegetation within the project area will be maintained, and the solar panels may be washed as needed
