Women IN Energy Hosts 7th Annual Conference in Indiana: “Navigating the New Energy Era”
Indianapolis (November 24th, 2025) — Women IN Energy, a professional community dedicated to empowering and advancing women across the energy sector, hosted its 7th annual conference on November 6th in Indianapolis last week, convening industry leaders, innovators, and rising professionals to explore the future of energy and women’s growing influence in shaping it.
The 2025 event, themed “Navigating the New Energy Era,” brought together more than 260 participants, featured 23 distinguished speakers, and was supported by 24 corporate sponsors spanning utilities, renewables, and technology.
Co-founded in 2017 by Kelly Snyder of EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA) and Tameka McNair of Microsoft, the Women IN Energy Conference was created to strengthen networks, amplify women’s leadership, and accelerate innovation within the industry. This year’s program centered on topics including the dynamic energy policy and regulatory landscape, AI and data-driven energy demand, and strategies for industry-wide allyship and professional leadership.
“The Women IN Energy Conference continues to be a vital space for connection, collaboration, and inspiration,” said Kelly Snyder, Executive Vice President of Origination at EDPR NA. “Each year, we see more women driving impact across every corner of the energy landscape, from project development and policy to digital solutions and community engagement. Their leadership is shaping a more resilient, innovative energy future.”
Tameka McNair, HR Director at Microsoft, added, “Every year, the Women IN Energy community brings a powerful current of momentum—diverse voices, lived experiences, and bold ideas—that energizes the room and carries forward long after the closing session. This year was especially meaningful as three women from our own community took the stage, and our winner earned a breakout session at next year’s conference—proof that when we invest in representation and opportunity, the spotlight widens and the pipeline grows.”
“We’ve been supporters of the Women in Energy Conference since its beginning,” said Duke Energy Indiana President Stan Pinegar. “True to its original purpose, it inspires discussions about innovation, leadership, and technology in the energy industry and connects people throughout the state engaged in our field.”
“The future of energy is being shaped by a workforce that includes a growing number of women who bring vision, resilience, and innovation to each challenge," said Brandi Davis-Handy, President of AES Indiana. “Across our industry and within our communities here in Indiana, women are accelerating progress toward a more inclusive, dynamic, and sustainable energy future. The Women IN Energy Conference embodies that commitment year after year.”
Reflecting on the conference’s success, Ashleigh Moore, Interregional Planning Advisor at MISO, said, “This year’s conference was our biggest yet—we even reached full capacity! The overwhelmingly positive feedback we received during and after the event shows just how meaningful this work is in fostering connection and belonging across our industry. I’m proud to be part of a team that creates such an inspiring space for women in energy.”
Leah Smith, Vice President of External Affairs at ACES and one of the Program Directors for this year’s conference, stated, “As a host sponsor of the Women IN Energy conference, ACES is proud to help bring together leaders who are driving innovation and progress across the energy sector. The insights shared during the conference reinforce the essential role women play in shaping a resilient, sustainable energy future.”
This year’s conference featured speakers and panelists from AES Indiana, ACES, Duke Energy Indiana, EDPR NA, Microsoft, MISO, Hoosier Energy, and DePauw University, among others.
Indiana continues to see strong momentum in its clean energy sector, including EDPR NA’s 1.7 GW of installed wind and solar capacity that is powering the equivalent of 449,000 Hoosier homes and businesses. As a founding and platinum sponsor, EDPR NA remains deeply committed to advancing Indiana’s energy innovation and partnering with local communities to deliver reliable, sustainable power.
