The EDP Foundation delivers 2,500 energy efficiency kits to vulnerable families

As part of its Christmas campaign, the EDP Foundation is carrying out an initiative to deliver energy saving kits to vulnerable families. The aim of this initiative is to collaborate in reducing electricity, water and heating consumption, thereby contributing to improving energy efficiency in homes.

Each kit includes an electric programmer (to control the switching on of appliances), a power strip with a switch (to avoid standby consumption), a draught excluder (to reduce heat loss), LED bulbs (up to 5 times less consumption) and water aerators (to reduce consumption by half).

In total, the EDP Foundation will deliver almost 2,500 kits to various social organisations: the Oviedo and Santander Food Banks, the Oviedo, Gijón and Santander Soup Kitchens, and the Asturias Alzheimer's Foundation.

Thanks to the collaboration of EDP Volunteering, this morning a group of volunteers visited the Cocina Económica (soup kitchen) to help with the preparation of energy efficiency kits that will then be delivered to 200 families from the Cocina Económica in Oviedo

The volunteers were also visited by Mar Prieto, president of the Cocina Económica de Oviedo, and Manuel Menéndez, president of the EDP Foundation, who was responsible for delivering, on behalf of the EDP Foundation, a cheque for €6,000 so that 50 families from the Cocina Económica could have €120 to purchase essential goods.

Manuel Menéndez, president of the EDP Foundation, stated that "energy is essential in our daily lives, which is why we are working to make its use more efficient and accessible. With this initiative, we want to provide practical solutions to families who are going through difficult times." 

With actions such as this, the EDP Foundation reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and solidarity, working to make energy and efficiency accessible to everyone, contributing to a fairer, more caring and sustainable society.
