REACTOR

Wednesday 14, October 2026
The challenge
Energy infrastructure requires surveillance and protection systems capable of responding to increasingly complex environments. Robotic technologies can enhance facility monitoring, help anticipate potential incidents and perform tasks across large or hard-to-reach areas, reducing people’s exposure to hazardous situations.
The solution
REACTOR develops advanced robotic solutions to improve the safety, monitoring and autonomous operation of energy facilities.

At EDP, the project will enhance the capabilities of the quadruped robot used at the Tanes hydroelectric power plant and the autonomous robotic mowing and vegetation-clearing platform deployed at the Pereira Barreto solar power plant. New capabilities will include inspection, surveillance and autonomous navigation.

Objectives

Advanced security and surveillance

Monitoring energy facilities and detecting potential incidents at an early stage.

Autonomous inspection

Robots capable of navigating complex environments and carrying out inspection tasks with minimal human intervention.

Intelligent detection and analysis

Technologies that interpret their surroundings, anticipate risks and provide relevant information to support decision-making.

Protecting people

Remote or autonomous tasks that reduce people’s exposure to potentially hazardous environments.
