The project, with a total capacity of 7 MWp, includes solar panels on rooftops and carport structures, which will generate approximately 6.5 GWh of renewable electricity per year to power Goodyear's daily operations.

Luxembourg, 12 November 2025 – The Goodyear Tyre & Rubber Company and EDP, a European leader in solar solutions for businesses, have inaugurated a new photovoltaic installation at Goodyear's facilities in Luxembourg, with a combined capacity of 7 MWp.

The project, signed in 2024 through Enerdeal - a leading energy company in Luxembourg acquired by EDP in 2023 - adds a total of 7 MWp of solar capacity installed at Goodyear's facilities. Of these, 5 MWp are located at the tyre plant and on the roof of the Goodyear Innovation Centre, while 2 MWp correspond to carport-type structures that cover the Innovation Centre's parking lot. Overall, this facility is expected to generate around 6.5 GWh of electricity per year, which will be consumed entirely at Goodyear's own facilities. These solar installations are Goodyear's fifth in the EMEA region and eleventh globally. The company aims to power all of its manufacturing operations exclusively with renewable energy by 2040.

AIn addition to their environmental benefits, carport-style solar structures offer protection for vehicles and make efficient use of available space. In Luxembourg, these types of systems represent an effective solution for generating renewable energy using existing areas, such as public, office or shopping centre car parks.

“This project with Goodyear is a clear example of how collaboration between leading companies in the industrial and energy sector can accelerate the energy transition. At EDP, we are proud to help clients such as Goodyear achieve their goals through reliable, efficient and innovative solar solutions. With this new facility in Luxembourg, we reinforce our commitment to supplying clean energy across Europe and supporting value chains on their journey to net zero emissions, ”said Vera Pinto Pereira, Member of the Executive Board and Head of Clients Solutions at EDP.

“Goodyear has a global goal of powering its manufacturing operations with 100 % renewable electricity by 2030 and fully renewable energy by 2040. Today's announcement brings us one step closer to that goal, ”said Alex Schumann, Manufacturing Director at Goodyear Luxembourg.

EDP began operations in the Belgium and Luxembourg region in 2023 with the acquisition of Enerdeal, a solar energy solutions provider with a strong track record in the distributed generation market. EDP is a global leader in distributed generation projects and one of the main European operators in the sector. With more than a decade of experience, the group currently has installed to date approximately 3 GWp of distributed solar capacity for comercial and residential clients worldwide.
