Over 20% of these long-term contracts were signed to supply data centres in order to meet the increase in electricity demand. EDP maintains its leading position in the PPA market with a diverse customer portfolio, now supplying over 41 TWh of renewable energy to customers worldwide.

EDP has reached 15 GWp of contracted capacity under long‑term PPAs with some of the world’s largest companies, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth and its commitment to renewable energy. EDP’s global PPA portfolio is led by five sectors: energy & utilities; data centres; wholesale & retail; the electricity, gas and steam sector; and manufacturing. These contracted PPAs with companies worldwide amount to around 41.5 TWh of renewable electricity from EDP’s utility‑scale projects.

In 2024 alone, EDP signed PPAs with 15 customers, increasing contracted capacity by 15% compared with 2023. This growth highlights the quality of EDP's assets in producing clean energy to meet customers’ electricity needs worldwide. EDP continues to have a diversified technology mix, with solar and wind assets as the main contributors. Agreements for battery energy storage systems (BESS) also played a significant role in the PPAs signed by EDP in 2024.

Some of the main agreements signed last year by EDP include one for up to 200 MWp with Microsoft in Singapore, linked to the national SolarNova initiative; one for 44 MWp signed with Amazon for EDP's largest solar project in Japan so far; in Fukushima Prefecture, the 184 MWp agreement signed in Europe with a major technology company, and the 200 MW toll agreement in Arizona with the Salt River project.

These PPAs were signed in the four regions of the world where EDP operates – Europe, North America, South America and Asia-Pacific – and are diversified across customers from various sectors. However, contracts linked to data centre demand from large technology companies accounted for 45% of EDP’s contracts in 2024.

In this regard, EDP has established itself as a reliable partner for leading technology companies, securing a combined capacity of 3.2 GW in PPAs for data centres worldwide (22% of the total). Major technology companies acknowledge EDP’s integrated position and proven track record as advantages and account for a substantial proportion of the contracts in negotiation.

"Securing 15 GW of contracted capacity in PPAs is an important milestone that highlights EDP's position as a trusted energy partner. These agreements reinforce our long-term revenue visibility, while playing a crucial role in accelerating the transition to clean energy. At EDP, we are proud to lead this change, supporting our partners in achieving their sustainability goals and driving a greener future," says Miguel Stilwell D'Andrade, CEO of EDP.

As a leader in securing long-term contracts that offer visibility and flexibility to customers across Europe, EDP has signed agreements covering 2.2 GW of capacity in the region. With over two decades of experience in building a robust portfolio of solar, wind and commercial-scale storage assets across all the countries in which we operate, EDP has become a reliable partner for companies committed to powering their operations with 100% clean energy.

In Europe, EDP has signed public supply contracts for a portfolio of MWp of solar and wind energy with a major technology company. This is the first time we have signed multiple public supply contracts in several European markets – Italy, Germany and France. In addition, EDP has signed PPAs with Google for a 50 MWp solar portfolio in the Netherlands, with another large technology company for a 218 MW portfolio of wind and solar projects in Spain, and with Bloomberg for a 7 MWp solar project in Spain connected to an EDP wind farm. These are just a few examples of the many companies that rely on EDP as their clean energy partner.

As EDP continues to expand its global presence, it remains committed to supporting businesses worldwide in their transition to cleaner energy.
