The EDP Green Education study grant programme benefits 25 young people in Medina Sidonia
The energy company EDP has provided 25 study grants in Medina Sidonia (Cádiz). This is the EDP Green Education programme, an initiative designed to promote equal opportunities and foster educational inclusion among young people from low-income families.
The programme awards grants based on both academic performance and the socio-economic circumstances of each family, enabling young people to receive the support they need to progress in their studies. The aim is to ensure that access to education does not depend on the family's financial situation, but rather on the interest and merit of students who wish to continue their education.
Financial contributions are distributed according to educational level, ranging from €500 for early years, primary and secondary students, to €1,000 for upper secondary and vocational education students, and €2,000 for university students.
These grants provide a real boost to reducing barriers to education, enabling access to learning materials and educational resources, and supporting continuity in students' educational journeys.
Each year, the EDP programme visits different municipalities linked to the energy company's operations, helping to extend these opportunities to more regions and ensuring that more students can benefit from this support.
With these 25 new grants awarded in Medina Sidonia, the EDP Green Education programme continues to promote a fairer, more diverse and inclusive educational environment, directly supporting those who need it most and contributing to the personal and academic development of young people in the region.
EDP has been awarding these grants since the 2010–2011 academic year. Since then, they have successfully helped more than 1,000 students.
