Join us in action!
At EDP, we don't just talk about change - we make it happen. Our approach emphasises circularity, hybridisation and innovation to ensure a sustainable and efficient energy future. Discover how we are making ambitious climate targets a reality.
Circularity
Maximizing resource efficiency to minimize our environmental footprint.
Sustainability is the cornerstone of our renewable energy solutions. Our Close the Loop Program in the U.S. exemplifies our commitment to recycling and reusing materials from our renewable energy projects to ensure we minimize our environmental footprint. By turning waste into valuable resources and extending the lifecycle of materials, we are setting a new standard for sustainability in the energy sector.
Spearheading infinitely sustainable energy
Discover how our Close the Loop program is integral to our goal to reach net zero emissions by 2040. The program is the largest recycling partnership program in the industry, with more than 20 partners — and still growing strong.
Hybridisation
Integrating renewable solutions
Innovation drives our efforts in hybridisation, where we combine different renewable energy sources to maximise efficiency and reliability. The Alqueva project in Portugal is a testament to our pioneering spirit, integrating solar and hydroelectric power to create a versatile and robust energy solution. This hybrid approach not only increases energy security but also paves the way for similar initiatives around the world.
Alqueva's floating solar panels - a pioneer in the hybridisation of renewable energies
Inaugurated in 2022, Alqueva´s floating solar power plant represents the future of energy: innovation and sustainability combined.
Innovation
Partnerships for a sustainable future
Our partnership with Rondo on thermal battery technology underlines our commitment to cutting-edge solutions for decarbonisation. By supporting innovative start-ups and fostering collaboration, we are accelerating the development of technologies that will drive the global energy transition. Together, we are building a future where clean energy is accessible, affordable and abundant.
Decarbonising industrial heat production
EDP partners with Rondo Energy to provide industries in Europe with 24/7 renewable heat and power, using wind, solar, and Rondo's Heat Battery technology to deliver cost-effective, zero-carbon solutions for decarbonisation.
