Pursuant to the terms and for the purposes of article 16 and 20 of the Portuguese Securities Code and article 12 of the Portuguese Securities Commission Regulation no. 5/2008, EDP - Energias de Portugal SA ("EDP") has provided the following information to the market:

On December 23, 2013, Massachusetts Financial Services Company ("MFS") notified EDP regarding the decrease of a qualifying holding of 2.15% to 1.996% of the EDP share capital. The change of the participation was due to a market transaction, as a result of the disposal of 868,562 shares (0.024% of EDP's share capital) on December 17th, 2013.

As a result of this transaction, MFS currently holds 72,973,533 shares, representing 1.996% of EDP share capital and 1.996% of its voting rights.
