    Mainstay
Element of vertical support between the threshold and the ceiling. Its nature varies according to the characteristics required. Its type goes from the wooden rod to the adjustable hydraulic rod.
Note: The metal stays are recovered at the end of the dismantling.
    Manometric Height of a Pump
Geodetic height plus height equivalent to load losses.
    Mass
Solid fuels are almost always referred to in mass units as metric ton (1000 kg), short ton, long ton or pound. The most commonly used unit to measure coal is the metric ton. In many parts of the world oil is also measured in metric tons. Traditional fuels, such as wood, are sometimes also in kilograms or pounds.
    Max Speed Ratio
Ratio between maximum peripheral speed and undisturbed wind speed. Note: This ratio allows comparison between different types of wind turbines.
    Maximum Electrical Possible Power
It is the highest electrical power that can be obtained in a central or a group during a determined time of operation, supposing in a state of good functioning the totality of its installations and in optimal conditions of feeding (fuel or water).
    Maximum Exploration Level
It is the highest level normally allowed in a reservoir (without taking into account the overheating due to flooding). It corresponds to the level of full storage of the reservoir.
    Maximum Produced Power
Maximum verified in the electrical power produced by an installation. During a given time interval.
Maximum Radius (Radius of a Spade)
Maximum distance between the center of the blade profile and the axis of rotation measured in the plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
    Mechanic Planer
Machine equipped with cutting teeth that move along the layer of coal, plucking it to a depth of about 10 cm.
    Mega-diverse countries
Group of 17 countries that have declared themselves to be holding 70% of the biodiversity of the entire planet: Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, South Africa, United States of America and Venezuela.

    Mesh Network
A network, or part of a network, totally or partially formed of rings, connected at its ends to different power supplies, or any more complex assembly consisting of multiple rings and various power supplies.
    Meter (m) lenght Unit
The meter is the length of the path traveled by the light in the vacuum, during a time interval of 1/299 792 458 s [17th CGPM (1983), Resolution 1].
    Methanol (Methyl alcohol)
Alcohol produced mainly by chemical synthesis, after gasification of carbonized products (mainly from wood). Note: Methanol is considered to be a synthetic fuel of economic interest.
    Middle Year
Year (fictitious) whose hydraulic characteristics correspond to the average of a coherent series of the greatest possible number of years. The series on which the average or normal year is based must be specified in each case.
    Mindfulness

Mindfulness means maintaining a conscious awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment, through a gentle lens that helps keep us in the present moment, inducing a sense of calm and preventing anxiety and stress. At EDP, we also envision mindfulness as the ability to recognize the importance of safety, practicing sustainability and social responsibility.

    mindfulness

    Mine
A set of facilities used for underground or open sky exploration of a field.
    Mineral Matter Content
Total proportion of inorganic components in dry fuel.
    Minimum Operating Level
It is the minimum level allowed for the exploitation of a reservoir, measured at a specific location.
Note: Below the minimum level of exploitation can be made emptying of the reservoir up to the level of the bottom discharge.
