In Spain, generating awareness about wind power.
“Wind Specialists” contest fits in EDP Renewables’ mission in the contribution for the sustainable development, and which has the objective to stimulate the younger folks to delve, in a creative way, into wind power.
Creativity and wind power
“Wind Specialists” is the name of the annual contest organized by EDP Renewables (EDPR), since 2015, in Spain, that intends to generate awareness to younger people for the issues related to wind power, while simultaneously stimulating their creativity.
2018 Edition
Around 100 teams of 25 schools all over the country participated in this third edition, which represented and increase of 26% in relation to 2017’s edition.
The first edition’s prize was awarded to a group of sixth grade students from the elementary school CEIP Ildefonso Navarro, in Villamalea (Albacete). The students, ranging from 10 to 13 years of age, that with the help of a teacher, were able to design a windmill out of recycled materials.
Besides receiving a trophy and a certificate, they had the chance to visit, in their county, an EDPR wind park.
For EDP, this type of initiatives help younger generations to build a conscience about renewable energies and their importance from a responsible energy consumption standpoint, highlighting their benefits for a sustainable development.
