#EmbraceEquity for a Gender-Equal Tomorrow
Aligned with our commitment to contribute to a gender-equal world, EDP is once again associated with International Women’s Day movement, by promoting a series of initiatives aligned with the motto #EmbraceEquity.
In this sense, to celebrate women’s achievements in closing the gender gap, we gathered in a roundtable four women that pursued STEM careers against all gender stereotypes, to talk about their journey and how they are “breaking the bias to embrace equity”.
We Choose Earth
Choosing Earth is only possible if you respect the principles of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Sense of Belonging as a fundamental part of our values and behaviors as human beings.
We must continue to promote gender equality and doing so means promoting the presence of women at EDP, in all types of positions and functions. And to accelerate this change, we are committed to fair recruitment, as well as complying with the principle of “equal pay for equal work”, valuing merit and not gender.
EDP has reinforced its positioning on these topics, in particular in the promotion of gender equality, assuming the commitment to reach 30% female representation globally and in leadership positions by 2025. To achieve these ambitious goals and promote a more equitable experience, we developed a Plan for Gender Equality, with policies and measures recognized by the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index.
We Choose Earth with the help of everyone's energy.
A gender equal future is an inclusive future
A world free from prejudice and stereotypes. A world that rejects discrimination and celebrates difference, recognizing the importance of equal opportunities. This is the world that we must all build together.
The first International Women's Day took place in the United States of America, on February 28th 1909, as a way to recognize the struggle of New York textile workers. The date gained expression all over the world and, in 1975, the United Nations (UN) officially recognized the day, that by this time was already celebrated on March 8th.
The need to fight for the equal rights of girls and women all over the world remains real and, in 2023, the UN and the International Women's Day (IWD) defined as themes for this celebration Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality and #EmbraceEquity.
Topics that complement each other because, after all, it is only possible to aspire for a gender equal future when it is a fair future free from bias.
To celebrate Women is to fight for equality.
At EDP, we strive for a world that is equal for all genders. A world free of prejudices, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that is diverse, fair, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Get involved and absorb all of the insights shared by successful female role models in STEM areas.
