EDP Energia Polska, will install a photovoltaic system at REHAU Window Solutions’ facility that will power the manufacturer of polymer solutions production plant and logistics center nearby Poznań, marking another step towards the decarbonization of the company's operations.

EDP Energia Polska, part of the global energy producer EDP group, was chosen by REHAU Window Solutions for a 20-years agreement to provide clean energy to REHAU Window Solutions' production facility, significantly reducing its dependence on conventional energy sources. EDP will install and operate a new photovoltaic solar plant of approximately 2,800 panels that will support the reduction in CO2 emissions by over 1,000 tonnes annually, equivalent to the yearly carbon dioxide absorption by more than 182,000 mature trees.

The solar system will be installed at the manufacturer of Windows polymer solutions facility in in Śrem, near Poznań, and will have an installed capacity of 1.6 MWp. With this project, REHAU Window Solutions will produce its own renewable energy locally and reduce its dependence of the grid by 7%.

The project will be implemented under the Solar-as-a-Service model, in which EDP supports maintenance, and servicing of the installation and manages the solar panels production daily. REHAU Window Solutions, in turn, will benefit from the generated energy and the environment will from the reduced CO2 footprint.

”Decarbonisation of the industry is one of the biggest challenges and, at the same time, one of the biggest opportunities for Poland. At EDP Energia Polska, we actively support companies in this process by offering interesting tailor-made photovoltaic solutions with or without upfront investment. The project with REHAU Window Solutions is another step towards a cleaner transformation and proof that the future belongs to renewable energy sources” – says Ireneusz Kulka, Country Manager EDP Energia Polska.

‘REHAU Window Solutions takes responsibility for practising sustainability and thus also for its partners and customers. The premium system house is consistently expanding its status as a pioneer in the industry for innovative sustainability - entirely in the interests of its partners and customers with a full focus on future viability, competitive advantages and profitability. Projects such as our current PV offensive here in Poland impressively demonstrate REHAU Window Solutions' ability to act and its determination to consistently implement its sustainability strategy. This means that our product strategies with REHAU Window Solutions and the recycled profiles produced here at the site are trend-setting for the competitiveness of our customers. At the same time, one of three REHAU Window Solutions recycling plants is located here. The combination of circular economy in our products and low-CO2 production are trend-setting. As a result, we implement them consistently across the board. This directly increases the competitiveness of our partners and customers, who are already well equipped with our product portfolio for challenges such as the Green Deal or the EU taxonomy,’ says Carsten Heuer, CEO of REHAU Window Solutions.

The collaboration between REHAU Window Solutions and EDP Energia Polska is another example of the effective implementation of clean solutions for companies that contribute to the energy transformation and decarbonisation of Polish industry. Via Investments in renewable energy sources not only benefit the environment but also emphasise corporate social responsibility

EDP Energia Polska is experiencing dynamic growth in interest in photovoltaics among business clients. In 2023 alone, the company has contracted approximately 102 MWp of capacity in solar installations for companies, representing a more than 120% increase compared to the previous year. This is a clear signal that Polish industry is increasingly focusing on cleaner energy.
