EDP is the only Portuguese company to be ranked one of the world's most ethical
Business management and ethics practices have earned EDP yet another award from the Ethisphere Institute - for the tenth year in a row. The company is listed with 134 other companies, including nine utilities.
EDP has once again been ranked by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the most ethical companies in the world, and it is the only Portuguese business among 135 companies from 22 countries and 47 industries. EDP also stands out on the 2021 list of the most ethical companies in the world as one of the nine companies in the 'Energy and Utilities' category.
For the tenth year running, this award acknowledges the Group's commitment to the best management and ethics practices, as well as the way it has implemented them in every region where it operates. This international award reflects the continued strengthening of this ethical culture and EDP's trust relationship with its stakeholders.
EDP's commitment to ethics is based on a number of mainstays, including the Code of Ethics - a guiding document drawn up in 2005 which brings together the most important guidelines and best practices to be followed in the company. The company also has an Ethics Ombudswoman and a number of ethics committees whose mission is to consolidate its staff's good conduct and its reputation.
The Ethisphere Institute - an internationally renowned organization - names companies that stand out for their integrity and whose management practices are guided by ethical principles and commitments. Applying its own evaluation model, this organization has been assessing the maturity and performance of management systems in terms of ethics and compliance over the past 15 years.
"The most ethical companies in the world continue to show an unwavering commitment to the highest values and to positively impact the communities they serve," said Ethisphere CEO Timothy Erblich in his message congratulating the companies on this year’s list. "While they had to deal with the tough challenges of 2020, these companies, more than any other organization, were able to gain the trust of the various parties involved in their activities through resilience and commitment to ethics and integrity."
