EDP offers 18 months of energy to three social solidarity institutions, to celebrate the EDP Christmas Grand Prix race.
This year's edition will take place in virtual format. The first 5000 participants to finish the 10-kilometer race will receive a protective mask and a medal for their participation in the race.
This is an iconic event, one of the oldest road events in Portugal, and will take place virtually from the 11th to the 13th of December. Similar to the latest virtual events launched by the Marathon Club of Portugal (MCP) and EDP, the athletes will be able to use the mobile application to register and validate their participation.
As this is a Christmas event, the organizers and EDP could not pass on the opportunity to offer the first 5000 finalists of the race an exclusive participation medal and anti-COVID 19 masks.
EDP Grande Prémio de Natal is a race known for its social responsibility premise and, this year, EDP will offer a total of 18 months of energy to three social solidarity institutions. The goal of this initiative is to support these institutions at a critical time for society.
Social responsibility initiatives have been a common practice at several EDP events: they have included offering surfing lessons and workshops to institutionalized children, offering bicycles and months of energy to various institutions throughout the country.
Registrations and Classifications
Registrations are made on the VRaces MCP mobile app (available on the App Store and Google Play) or on the race's main page. After confirmation of registration, participants will receive a personalized PDF file by email.
On the dates defined for the race (December 11th, 12th, and 13th), the participants will have to activate the mobile app and start their participation. The app must be active during the completion of the 10 kilometers. Only the entries registered in the app will be valid. The distance of each race must be run in a single exercise/session (it's not possible to complete the distance in more than one session). Once the race starts, it is not possible to cancel it and restart.
After the race is concluded, participants will have access to the classification and will receive a personalized certificate of participation by email.
This is one of the oldest road competitions held in Portugal, and usually features interesting rivalries between top athletes from the biggest national clubs. This edition, accessible to all, and with a route for each participant to choose, won't have real podiums or official records, but will go down in history just for happening!
DGS Rules
The organizers call on participants to comply with the DGS rules during their race. The MCP intends to promote sports, but always in compliance with the safety and prevention rules defined by the competent entities.
