EDP Brasil is awarded a PPA for a 219 MW hydro plant at the Brazilian energy auction
EDP – Energias do Brasil ("EDP Brasil"), EDP Group's subsidiary for the Brazilian electricity market, listed in Sao Paulo Stock Exchange and 51.0% owned by EDP, announced that it obtained the concession for the Cachoeira Caldeirão hydro plant on the A-5 auction carried out today by the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL).
Pursuant to the terms and for the purposes of article 248 of the Portuguese Securities code, EDP - Energias de Portugal, S.A. ("EDP") is providing the following information to the market:
EDP – Energias do Brasil ("EDP Brasil"), EDP Group's subsidiary for the Brazilian electricity market, listed in Sao Paulo Stock Exchange and 51.0% owned by EDP, announced that it obtained the concession for the Cachoeira Caldeirão hydro plant on the A-5 auction carried out today by the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL).
The hydro plant with an installed capacity of 219 MW will be built in the Amapá Brazilian state, in the Araguari river and it will allow the reinforcement of EDP Brasil's presence in the generation market.
The conditions of the contracted PPA in the electricity auction include the sale of 129.7 average MW for a 30-year term starting in January 2017 and at the price of R$95.31/MWh, nominal price at Dec-2012, being updated at Brazilian IPCA index inflation rate.
This project will represent an expected capex amount of R$1.1 billion with a projected allocation of 16% in 2013, 43% in 2014, 35% in 2015 and 6% in 2016 and should be financed with 60% of long term debt.
