The purpose of the rePLANT project is to develop research, innovation and knowledge and technology transfer activities to increase sustainable forest management, the competitiveness of the Portuguese forestry sector and to reduce the impact of forest fires.
Labelec is part of the consortium, along with 20 other entities from academia, forestry, energy transmission and distribution and other research entities, that is developing the RePLANT project, which considers 8 collaborative strategies that will give rise to new Processes, Products and Services.
Replant brings a new perspective on integrated forest and fire management, based on scientific and technological knowledge, through the introduction of new, more efficient and intelligent equipment for the forest, with better environmental performance.
Labelec is responsible for task 1.3.1 which aims to obtain LiDAR data on 700 hectares of forest in order to develop a methodology for determining the amount of biomass, a task under the responsibility of the University of Trás os Montes e Alto Douro.
