The fish lift is a project developed at Touvedo Dam, located on the Lima River
The fish lift consists of a collecting channel located on the downstream side of the dam, which has three inlets fed by a flow of water that attracts the fish. The fish enter this channel and continue to a tank, a quadrangular container with approximate dimensions of 0.80 meters by 1.40 meters. This container holds water and a drawn grid that helps measure the size of incoming fish. Every 4 hours, the tank automatically rises to the upstream level, where it releases the fish into the Touvedo reservoir.
Purpose
Evaluation of the performance of the fish passage device (fish lift), as well as the definition and implementation of measures to improve its operation.
Benefits
Intangible environmental benefits, by mitigating the impact of the Touvedo dam on river connectivity, the lift enables several species to continue their usual route along the river, particularly for breeding migrations.

Description of Labelec's Participation
Planned and coordinated by Labelec, this project enables the transfer of results and technical-scientific knowledge to the systematic operation of the Touvedo Hydroelectric Power Station, particularly the following:
- Vídeo-monitoring of the fish lift;
- Monitoring of fish fauna downstream of the dam;
- Evaluation of the effectiveness of the fish lift;
- Integration of monitoring, project and operational information;
- Definition of measures to increase the efficiency of the lift.
