Snop expands its European energy partnership with EDP to Italy

EDP, a European leader in energy solutions for businesses, has once again been selected by French automotive company Snop, this time to deploy its energy solutions at one of the company’s facilities in Italy.

Through EDP Energia Italia, the company will develop a project in Caserta, in the Campania region, capable of generating up to 520 MWh of clean energy per year. The installation is expected to be operational in the first months of 2027. This annual output is projected to avoid up to 223 tons of CO₂ emissions.

The project will include more than 700 rooftop solar panels at Snop’s Caserta facility, with an installed capacity of around 400 kWp. This complements the 5 MWp portfolio signed between EDP and Snop in early 2025 across France, Spain, and Germany. Altogether, these projects will generate more than 6 GWh of clean energy annually, supporting part of SNOP’s industrial activity across multiple European sites and reinforcing a long-term partnership between both companies.

In the context of continued volatility in global energy markets, long-term energy agreements are becoming increasingly critical for industrial players seeking cost visibility and operational stability. This project is delivered under EDP’s “As-a-Service” model, under which EDP assumes the upfront investment and manages the installation and operation of the system. This approach enables companies to access renewable energy without upfront investment, while ensuring predictable energy costs and supporting decarbonisation targets.

The agreement also reflects EDP’s ability to structure and execute multi-country energy solutions through a centralized project management model. By combining a single contractual framework with coordinated delivery across geographies, EDP reduces complexity, accelerates implementation, and ensures consistency in execution, while leveraging strong local expertise to adapt each project to market-specific requirements.

Partnerships like the one we are building with Snop highlight the value of having a single energy partner across multiple markets. As companies grow internationally, energy management can become a complex topic, with different regulations and dynamics. Working with EDP means having a partner that already understands their operations and can deliver integrated, end-to-end solutions fully optimized for each local market. This approach brings consistency, flexibility, and simplicity to their energy strategy, allowing these industrial leaders to stay focused on their core business.

This agreement further reinforces EDP’s position in the automotive sector, where energy is becoming an increasingly strategic factor. As an energy-intensive industry undergoing a profound transformation, automotive manufacturing requires reliable, cost-efficient, and scalable energy solutions to support both electrification and decarbonization objectives.

EDP entered the Italian market in 2010 through EDP Renewables, focused on utility-scale wind and solar projects, and expanded its presence in 2019 with EDP Energia Italia, dedicated to decentralized solar solutions.

EDP Energia Italia has contracted more than 170 MWp of distributed solar capacity with corporate clients in Italy. The company has also expanded its portfolio to include battery energy storage systems (BESS), reinforcing its ability to deliver flexible, integrated solutions tailored to the evolving needs of industrial customers.
