EDP supported the X Congress of Environmental Sciences of Andalusia, which brought to the debate the circular economy as one of the essential models to guarantee a sustainable future.

The future must be circular

EDP sponsored the X Congress of Environmental Sciences of Andalusia on circular economy, organized by the College of Environmentalists of Andalusia (COAMBA), on November 3 and 4, 2022, in Seville.

Among the main conclusions of the invited experts, the following stand out:

  • The circular economy should be the guiding axis of all actions, of individuals and companies, and there is an urgent need for a change in business models;
  • The circular economy is a paradigm that affects production, consumption and financing. If we want the economy to be circular, it is necessary to transform the rules of the game. The solution will be to seek collaboration mechanisms between entities, so that we can face the challenges that lie ahead in the coming years;
  • The planet is sick, and there continues to be an increasing extraction of resources, which are finite. It is essential that we are able to take advantage of the raw materials present in products;
  • A more efficient use of raw materials should require that products remain in the economy as long as possible. It is essential that we find ways to make products last longer;
  • Making money, being more competitive and having a better relationship with the planet is possible. The future will have to be circular or we probably won't have a future;
  • If it is so important and urgent to move from the linear to the circular model, why don't we do it?
