Continuing the support given by EDP since 1998, the EDP Foundation became a patron of the Companhia Nacional de Bailado in 2005. We share the values of openness to the new, the invention of the future and the transmission of heritage. We promote the accessibility of dance culture with the creation of new audiences and national and international itinerant.
Disseminate and decentralize dance culture
Created in 1977, CNB is the only classical-based company in Portugal, recognized for its versatility in the interpretation of classical, modern and contemporary genres. As far as national tours are concerned, CNB's dance shows have contributed to helping decentralize dance culture, making it more accessible to the population living outside large urban circles.
Support to the Companhia Nacional de Bailado
The CNB, which continues to assume its role as a reference institution in the universe of dance, has, among others, the following objectives: to make the fundamental works of the classical ballet repertoire known, while also offering a program open to the contemporary, in dance and other artistic disciplines, thereby promoting the creation of new audiences, contributing to the cultural decentralization and territorial cohesion of the country.
The support given by EDP Foundation is part of the continued, consistent and coherent action to encourage culture and the arts. It has been developed on the basis of the social responsibility mission and based on a vision that has at its core service to the community, the sustainable development of society and active openness to contemporary issues, motives and transformations in the global world.
The EDP Foundation shares with the CNB the goal of stimulating new talents and promoting entrepreneurial energy.
