In Spain, a solar and ecological vegetable garden.
The project for the creation of a solar and ecological vegetable garden, at the Siloé Foundation, was one of those selected in the 2022 edition of the EDP Solidarity (EDP Solidária) Program, in Spain.
Ecological gardens
Within the scope of the 2022 edition of the EDP Solidarity (EDP Solidária) Program in Spain, thirty non-profit organizations from different regions received support totaling one million Euros, to promote and develop social projects framed within the Program's three strategic areas of intervention:
1. Providing care to the elderly;
2. Combating depopulation and supporting rural development;
3. Access to energy and energy efficiency.
One of the organizations covered was the Siloé Foundation, with a project that proposes the creation of a solar vegetable garden and an ecological vegetable garden for the benefit of the Foundation's users.
The Siloé Foundation is dedicated to providing care for children and adults in situations of social vulnerability or exclusion, focusing on young people and families at social risk, people affected by severe disabilities, with serious mental disorders, with chronic diseases, addictions and/or multiple pathologies. Its mission is the social inclusion of these people and community awareness, with a view to a fairer society.
In the 2022 edition of the EDP Solidarity (EDP Solidária) Program, 121 applications were received, making this the edition with the largest number of proposals and also the one that stands out for its quality.
