EDP and Ayuda en Acción have carried out the Redes de Energía project, with the aim of guaranteeing online school support for children from underprivileged backgrounds in Asturias. But that's not all: it also includes digital training for families and teachers and online tutoring through EDP volunteers.
Online school support
EDP, in partnership with the non-governmental organization (NGO) Ayuda en Acción, in collaboration with the Ribera de Arriba City Council (Asturias), participates in the Redes de Energía project, which consists of the implementation of a resilient digital education model in Ribera de Arriba, Asturias.
The initiative, which runs until June 2023, in the Soto de Ribera Educational Center, was aimed at families at risk of social exclusion and provided online school support to facilitate the digital adaptation of children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
On Mondays, for one hour, EDP volunteers shared games and dynamics with the children that contribute to SDGs 4 (quality education), 10 (reducing inequalities) and 17 (partnerships for the implementation of the goals).
All volunteers received prior training from Ayuda en Acción, an international cooperation organization whose mission is to improve the living conditions of children, families and communities. Its action aims at the implementation of self-sustainable integral development projects and awareness-raising activities, with the ultimate goal of promoting structural changes that contribute to the eradication of poverty.
