In Spain, sponsoring a true cultural icon.
EDP, continuing its support for the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum, sponsored the Concert for Two Anniversaries, which marked the centenary of the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra (BOS) and the 25th anniversary of the Museum.
Guggenheim Bilbao: a true cultural icon
EDP is one of the sponsors of the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum, one of the emblematic buildings of the third millennium and a true cultural icon, where contemporaneity, technology, the avant-garde and design intersect.
Located in the Basque Country, next to the Nervión River, the Guggenheim, designed by Frank Gehry, has always been an important driving force in the city's social and economic life.
Concert for Two Anniversaries
As part of its support for the Museum, EDP sponsored the Concert for Two Anniversaries, a free event marking the centenary of the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra (BOS) and the 25th anniversary of the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum, held on 18 June 2022, in two sessions (at 20.00 and 23.00) in the Museum atrium.
This special concert was part of the 25th Anniversary celebrations of the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum, held under the motto "Art inspires the future". The program included "Pictures of an Exhibition", with which Modest Mussorgsky paid tribute to his friend Viktor Hartmann, on the occasion of the exhibition of some of his works after his death.
The musical piece symbolizes the visitor's journey from frame to frame. Originally composed for piano, the music was "brilliantly orchestrated" by Maurice Ravel, as the Museum pointed out. In addition to this classic, the concert featured the work of French composer Augusta Holmès, who presented the audience with the symphonic poem "Andromeda."
