In Portugal, Pedagogical Villages: "I dare now more than ever"
As part of its Volunteering Project "I dare now more than ever", EDP, in partnership with Azimute Association, provided a special day for 90 elderly women who are part of the "Pedagogical Villages" ("Aldeias Pedagógicas") project.
Celebrating Women's Day
To celebrate Women's Day on March 8, 2022, EDP, as part of its Volunteer Project "I dare now more than ever", organized the initiative "From Woman to Woman", challenging its volunteers to write a letter to 90 elderly women.
The action, organized in partnership with the association Azimute, involved the participation of 33 volunteers, and its mission was to provide a happier Women's Day to 90 elderly women from the "Pedagogical Villages" project.
Azimute is a non-profit association, located between Bragança and Vinhais, which has as main goal the organization and promotion of activities related to active aging in community, youth, environment and culture.
It dynamizes the project "Pedagogical Villages", with the goal of promoting active aging, intergenerational, valorization, civic and family participation and the physical and mental well-being of the elderly, through their participation as guides, in "visits to the past" of the villages. These actions are designed for school groups and other organized groups, who wish to embark on a journey through the arts, crafts and traditions of other times.
The celebration of Women's Day was also associated with ReUse by Ajuda de Mãe, an entrepreneurship project of social and environmental impact, which promotes the inclusion and employability of unemployed mothers, which took advantage of the date to give each of the elderly women a gift made by the mothers in this project.
