In Spain, raising awareness of energy efficiency.

The Energy Awareness Program Conectad@s à Sustentabilidade, which aims to raise awareness of energy efficiency issues, was one of those selected in the 2022 edition of the EDP Solidarity Program in Spain.

Raising awareness for energy efficiency

Within the scope of the 2022 edition of the EDP Solidarity (EDP Solidária) Program in Spain, thirty non-profit organizations from different regions received support totaling one million euros to promote and develop social projects framed within the Program's three strategic areas of intervention: 

1. Providing care to the elderly; 

2. Combating depopulation and supporting rural development; 

3. Access to energy and energy efficiency. 

One of the organizations covered was Alis Canarias, with the Energy Awareness Program: Connect@dto Sustainability, which aims to contribute to the sustainable development of the Canary Islands, by carrying out awareness-raising actions on energy efficiency in classrooms from 1st to 6th grade of primary education, in different schools in Tenerife. 

Throughout the awareness sessions, energy awareness material was developed in English, aimed at hotel guests in the south of the island. In addition, teachers were trained to include the topic of energy awareness in school curriculums.

In the 2022 edition of the EDP Solidarity (EDP Solidária) Program, 121 applications were received, making this the edition with the largest number of proposals and also the one that stands out for the quality of the initiatives.
