In Brazil, raising awareness about responsible energy consumption.
EDP promoted the Communities Challenge, with the aim of raising awareness, in a playful way, of 200 communities for responsible energy consumption.
Learning in community
The EDP Institute, the entity that coordinates EDP's socio-environmental and cultural actions in Brazil, launched, in 2022, the Communities Challenge, aimed at more than 200 communities in São Paulo and Espírito Santo.
2022 editions
With the theme "Electricity: Safety and responsible consumption", the first edition took place between February and March and aimed to train participants, via WhatsApp, based on a structured program based on videos. Each community was represented by a student who, for each activity carried out, earned points for their community.
In the second edition, held between July and August, a gymkhana took place between the communities, during which the themes of energy efficiency, the social tariff and electricity safety were addressed over eight stages.
At the end of each edition, the community with the highest number of points received the support of about 7600 euros, allocated by EDP, for revitalization or construction of small leisure spaces, for the enjoyment of the community, or for other works to improve common spaces.
EDP aims to strengthen communities and raise awareness on important issues. This challenge reinforces this goal, as well as opening up space for everyone to participate and contribute to strengthening their communities.
