In Spain, opening doors for young talent and knowledge.
The EDP Foundation holds agreements with Oviedo’s University and other universities and Spanish schools, that aim at awarding scholarships to promote the training of students, in the EDP facilities.
The doors are open for the academic community
The EDP Foundation, keeping in mind the reinforcement of their narrow collaboration with the academic community, while upholding its commitment to encourage talent and knowledge, has celebrated agreements with the Universities of the Autonomous Communities of Asturias’ Principality, País Basco, Cantábria, Região de Múrcia and Madrid, through which, over 300 students, perform scholarships in the different EDP headquarters.
The Martín González del Valle’ scholarships, with the duration of ten months, are paid and interns are selected based on their academic path, being placed in different departments, where, at a later moment, many of them have the possibility to renew their contract with EDP, for periods that can extend up to a year.
In this program’s context - which is already the most known in Oviedo’s University -, endowed with almost one million euros, students are provided with training, essentially practical, that reveals essential for their insertion in the corporate world. Internships are performed in every area of a company, under the tutors’ supervision, that train and help students and also participate in the continuous innovation and improvement programs, where they can contribute with their ideas and by sharing their experiences.
The initiative took the name by the late Martín González del Valle, who presided EDP between 1987 and 1999 and, since then took over the position of honorary president and also of the EDP Foundation, up to his death in 2015. Since its launching, in 1983, over 100 people who participated in the program started to integrate the boards at EDP’s Group in Spain.
