In Spain, using art as a social inclusion instrument and rural development
This is an innovative public-private action that encourages the social inclusion of the community and stimulates local development in the rural environment through art and its application. Art, design and architecture are used as tools for social transformation that go beyond the borders of the municipality, collaborating in the construction of an environment of innovation and value creation. In the first edition, in collaboration with the Ribera de Arriba Town Hall, 33 proposals were received, with 59 participants from 20 Spanish universities.
In the first edition, 3 lines of action were established:
- The creation of a space for exhibitions, shows in the parish of Bueño;
- The extension of a municipal services building;
- The Barrio de la Llosa, with social integration of vulnerable people.
The new edition, in collaboration with the Tineo City Council, in Asturias, (currently in the analysis phase of the proposals received), reinforces the positioning and commitment of the EDP group with sustainability and innovation, stimulating creativity and new ideas for the transformation of public space based on sustainable urbanism.
Art, architecture and design students, residing in Spain, have the challenge of presenting proposals for the transformation of public space through sustainable urbanism. Coordinated with the collaboration of the architect Joaquín Vaquero Ibáñez, the challenge is to find a response to the social needs and development opportunities of the square.
