In Portugal, volunteers and doctors of the World get together for the transformation of a community.
The Energy Weeks are an initiative integrated into the Energy Campaign, a global campaign of the EDP Group's Volunteer Program that takes place between May and June in the different geographies where the program is present, celebrating World Energy Day (May 29).
In Portugal, these Weeks began with the rehabilitation of a space with our partner Just a Change, tending to be in the Lisbon and Porto areas. In 2022, the Weeks gained a new identity associated with the new concept “Solidarity Energy Week”, where they began by taking the energy of volunteers outside the large centers and, in addition to rehabilitating a space that served that location, they aim to promote dynamism of several social impact initiatives involving the entire community.
Thus, in 2022, the Program was in Castanheira de Pêra, in partnership with Médicos do Mundo, in 2023, in Alcorriol (Torres Novas) in partnership with ACRA – Associação Cultural e Recreativa do Alcorriol and, in 2024, in Golegã, in partnership with Casa Mendes Gonçalves. All of these initiatives involved hundreds of EDP volunteers, but also other relevant stakeholders who, together with our volunteers, helped us create a positive and lasting impact in these communities.
